Mexican-American Chicago — National Museum of Mexican Art, 18th Street murals, taqueria density unmatched.
Southwest of the Loop, Pilsen (named after Plzeň by 1870s Czech immigrants) became Chicago's Mexican-American cultural centre from the 1960s. 18th Street is a continuous mural wall and the National Museum of Mexican Art is the largest of its kind in the US (free admission). Little Village (La Villita) extends the scene a mile further with weekend markets and birria stands. Best for food travellers and Chicago return visitors.
