Northern suburb — Oliwa Cathedral organ concerts, botanical garden park, former monastery quarter.
7km northwest of the Old Town, Oliwa was a Cistercian monastery town from the 12th century. The cathedral (Archcathedral Basilica) contains the famous 17th-century organ that performs daily concerts (its angel figures move during the music). The surrounding Oliwa Park is part botanical garden, part palace grounds — Gdańsk's prettiest green space, especially in autumn. SKM train direct to Old Town in 15 min. Best for quieter base, garden lovers and classical music travellers.
