Santa Eulalia — palm-lined promenade and marina

Top pick

East-coast family town — palm-lined promenade, marina, almost no clubs and a real Spanish town centre.

Ibizas second-largest town and the only one with a working river, Santa Eulalia is what the island looks like when the party economy steps back. The 2km promenade links a sandy bay to a quiet marina, with the Saturday hippy market at nearby Punta Arabi just five minutes inland. It has the islands most restaurants per capita and almost none of its clubs.

What you gain

  • Most restaurants per square metre on the island — from cheap Spanish menu del dia to Sa Capella
  • Punta Arabi Wednesday hippy market and Las Dalias Saturday market both within 10 minutes
  • Almost no nightclub presence — peaceful evenings even in August

What you sacrifice

  • Town beach is small and gets crowded in peak season — better swimming is at Cala Llonga or Cala Pada
  • No bus to most clubs — Uber rides to Hi or Pacha run €25-40 each way in season
