Ferry port and duty-free shopping town — chocolate, alcohol, cheap eats, not beachy.
Kuah is Langkawi's administrative and shopping town and the arrival point if you ferry from Penang or Kuala Perlis. Eagle Square (Dataran Lang) is the giant red-eagle statue on the waterfront. Duty-free shops cluster on Persiaran Putera — chocolate, alcohol, cigarettes, perfume at half mainland prices. No beach in town, but cheap hotels and the most authentic local food on the island.
