Shanghai
The Bund & Huangpu

The 1.5km riverfront strip of 1920s European-style banks and trading houses with the iconic view of Pudong skyscrapers across the Huangpu.
The Bund (Waitan) is Shanghai's most photographed strip — 26 colonial-era buildings (HSBC Building, Customs House, Peace Hotel) facing the Huangpu River. Across the water rise the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower, Jin Mao and SWFC. The Bund itself is hotel and high-end restaurant central — Peninsula Shanghai, Waldorf Astoria, Bvlgari Hotel, Fairmont Peace Hotel. Behind the waterfront, the Huangpu district extends into Nanjing Road East pedestrian shopping, People's Square (with Shanghai Museum, Grand Theatre, MOCA Shanghai). The default first-time-visitor base, particularly for the night skyline view.
