St Lucia
Vieux Fort & The South

Airport town with the island's best kitesurfing at Sandy Beach — practical, not pretty.
Vieux Fort wraps around Hewanorra International Airport at the southern tip of the island. The reason to stay here is kitesurfing: Sandy Beach (also called Anse de Sables) gets consistent NE trade winds 11 months a year, and there's an active kite-school scene. The town itself is workaday and most resort travellers transit straight through.
