Tallinn
Toompea (Upper Old Town)

Hilltop limestone-walled aristocratic quarter with Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Toomkirik, and the two big panoramic viewpoints.
The 30m-high limestone promontory that holds the Parliament building, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Lutheran Toomkirik, and the embassies. Two viewing platforms — Patkuli and Kohtuotsa — give the postcard skyline shots. Few hotels (Hotel Schlössle is the main one), mostly government and old aristocratic mansions converted to embassies. Quiet by 22:00 when the day-trippers leave.
