Bangkok
Silom & Sathorn

Bangkok's financial district by day, rooftop bars and Patpong by night.
Silom and Sathorn are where Bangkok's office workers and international business community operates. By day it's suits and sky bridges; by night the area around Patpong Night Market fills up and the rooftop bars come alive. Lebua (of Hangover Part II fame) is here. The area is more walkable than Sukhumvit, has good transit connections, and sits at the edge of the old city.

What you gain
- ↑Lumpini Park — Bangkok's Central Park; a genuine green space that feels nothing like the surrounding city
- ↑Patpong Night Market: chaotic, tourist-focused, but genuinely Bangkok in its own way
- ↑Sky-high rooftop bars including Lebua — some of Bangkok's best views of the Chao Phraya from this side
What you sacrifice
- ↓Patpong's red-light proximity makes it an uncomfortable area for some visitors and families
- ↓Business-district vibe means the neighbourhood feels flat on weekends when offices are empty
- ↓Fewer neighbourhood restaurant options than Sukhumvit or the old city
