Lake Bled
Vintgar Gorge Area (Podhom / Zasip)

Quieter farming villages 4km north — hiking base, walk to Vintgar Gorge, cheaper than lakefront.
The villages of Podhom and Zasip sit just north of Lake Bled, on the approach to Vintgar Gorge (one of Slovenia's great short hikes — wooden walkways pinned to a 1.6km canyon). Family-run pensions and apartments here cost a third less than lakefront equivalents. Cycle or walk to Bled lake in 20 minutes; cycle to Vintgar entrance in 10. A good middle-ground base for active travellers with a car.
