Main island capital and gateway hub with a cluster of dive lodges and homestays.
Waisai is the administrative capital of Raja Ampat on Waigeo island, accessible by two-hour express ferry from Sorong. The Raja Ampat Dive Lodge cluster is centred here, along with the main market, government offices, and the jumping-off point for speedboats to Dampier Strait homestays. It has more infrastructure than anywhere else in the archipelago, though that bar is low.
