Good
The beach peninsula — resort hotels, calm water, and a 15-minute bus to the Old Town.
Lapad is the peninsula west of the city with Dubrovnik's only genuine hotel resort infrastructure: large hotels with pools, Lapad Bay for swimming, and a promenade lined with restaurants and cafés. The No.7 bus to the Old Town takes 15 minutes. It's a different experience from staying near the walls — calmer, more resort-like, and significantly cheaper, particularly in shoulder season.

What you gain
- ↑Lapad Bay: a protected cove with calm swimming conditions and a beach bar scene; far better swimming than near the Old Town
- ↑Large hotels with pools — the only real resort-hotel experience in greater Dubrovnik
- ↑Bus No.7 direct to Pile Gate in 15 minutes; practical for day trips into the Old Town
What you sacrifice
- ↓The Old Town atmosphere is absent — every visit requires a bus or taxi
- ↓The Lapad promenade strip is pleasant but not a substitute for the Old Town for evening atmosphere
- ↓Peak season still expensive; the convenience comes at Croatian resort prices

families with young childrenthose who want resort amenitieslonger stays of 5+ nights who want a beach base
Avoid if
