Phu Quoc
Sao Beach (Bai Sao)

Powdery white sand and clear turquoise water on the quiet southeast coast — Phu Quoc's most beautiful beach.
Sao Beach consistently ranks among Vietnam's finest stretches of sand: a kilometre of brilliant white powder backed by coconut palms, with water so clear you can see your feet at chest depth. Located on the southeast coast, it faces east-northeast and is sheltered from the Gulf of Thailand swells that can rough up Long Beach in the shoulder season. The beach has a handful of small resorts and beach restaurants but has so far avoided the heavy development of the main resort strip — the atmosphere remains calm, the crowd manageable even in peak season, and the morning light across the turquoise bay is extraordinary.

What you gain
- ↑The finest beach on the island by most measures: powder-soft white sand, shallow clear water, and a sheltered bay that makes swimming easy even for children
- ↑Calmer and less crowded than Long Beach even in peak season — the southeast coast location keeps the day-tripper volume lower than the main resort strip
- ↑Best light of the day comes in the morning: arriving early (before 9am) rewards you with near-empty sand and exceptional colour in the water
What you sacrifice
- ↓No walkable restaurants or nightlife: Sao Beach shuts down early and requires a taxi or motorbike to reach Duong Dong for dinner
- ↓Limited accommodation directly on the beach — most visitors day-trip here from Long Beach rather than staying overnight; options are thin
- ↓The 45-minute drive from Duong Dong makes it impractical as a daily excursion if you are staying at the far northern end of Long Beach
