Good

Mid-section river camps perched on cliffs above the Olifants and Letaba Rivers — elephant country, scenic, less crowded than the south.

Olifants Camp sits 100m above the Olifants River on a clifftop — possibly the single most scenic camp view in Kruger, with the river snaking through gorges below. Letaba (45km north) is Kruger's elephant headquarters, with the Elephant Hall museum and the Letaba River drawing year-round elephant herds. This mid-section is markedly quieter than the south — wilderness feel returns. Excellent for elephant photography, hippo pods, and crocodile-laden river drives. Bird hides at both camps highly productive. The S91 and S93 dirt roads off the H1-5 are quiet and rewarding.
