Avoid
The Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and Campo de' Fiori — maximum Rome, maximum crowds.
The Historic Centre is why people come to Rome: the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo de' Fiori, and the Trevi Fountain all within a 15-minute walk. It's genuinely awe-inspiring and deeply impractical. Accommodation is expensive and noisy; the streets are densely touristed; and locals have been priced out. But for a short trip with monuments as the priority, nowhere rivals it.
