Trade-off

The southwest resort strip plus the white-sand west coast — Shilla, Lotte and Park Hyatt resorts, Hyupjae and Geumneung beaches.

Jungmun Resort Complex (just west of Seogwipo) is Jeju's densest luxury resort cluster — Shilla Jeju (the island's flagship), Lotte Hotel Jeju, Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency. The Jungmun Saekdal Beach (golden-orange volcanic sand) is the resort beach. Further northwest along the coast, the white-sand Hyupjae and Geumneung Beaches face the volcanic islet of Biyangdo — the most postcard-classic Jeju coast. Hyupjae cafe belt (Wave Cafe, Bonus Track) overlooks the turquoise shallows. The Sanbangsan area inland hosts dragon-tooth volcanic cliffs and the rapeseed-field photo spots. Resort comfort plus the best beach swimming on the island.

Centrality

What you gain

  • Hyupjae and Geumneung white-sand beaches with turquoise water — Maldives-style aesthetic
  • Shilla Jeju and Park Hyatt resort pools and spas — island's top luxury
  • Easy access to Sanbangsan, Yakcheonsa Temple and the rapeseed fields

What you sacrifice

  • Resort cluster feels generic and disconnected from Jeju culture
  • Shilla and Park Hyatt at KRW 400,000-700,000/night in summer
  • Crowded weekends — Hyupjae beach packed June-Sep
